Here's the problem;

When I go to the King Kutter website to read and print out a couple of the manuals I get locked up and only the first page appears in the PDF format.

Here's the irony;

I can get the entire manuals for items I don't own. I just can't get those that I need.

Here's what I think may have caused it;

When I first went to look at the manuals I need I had just upgraded to Adobe 6.0. Quite frankly, it is slower than 5.0 was and I didn't realize that. As I was waiting for the documents to load, I thought there was a problem so I closed that window. I think having done that may have something to do with what I'm now experiencing as it's only on the two manuals I tried to see earlier and closed the window before it completed loading.

Any thoughts as to a solution (other than going to someone else's PC and doing this there)? Thanks.

I may have a work around for you. Won't fix your problem but you'll be reading the manual in about 30 seconds. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifCopy the address of the PDF that you can't read. If you got the first page then you should have the address. Go here Adobe online conversion tool and past the address in the box. It will return the document as an HTML file, just save it wherever you want and you will be able to read it in your browser.

I would try doing a System Restore. Pick a date "As close to, But Before the date & time of the problem". It should put your system back to the way it was working before it messed up.

I just tried using the conversion tool on the King Kutter site and it worked. You should be OK. Then try uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat when you have the time..

Thanks, for the hug /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That is a nice feature Adobe offers. For text it is great for documents with graphics it's OK.

I use it to make my Town's Board meeting minutes searchable on the Town web site. We have PDFs listed by date for people to view and print but if you search for a keyword it will bring up the document containing that keyword converted to HTML. It was the cheapest solution to making all of our PDFs searchable. All the other solutions for searching the accumulated PDFs was expensive or involved much work.

Thank you too, I use Adobe 5.0 to create PDFs all the time I was going to upgrade....now I'll wait /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Operating system and browser version, please.

Assuming IE 5 to IE 6 on Windows...

Clear your cache: In IE, Tools, Internet Options. Press the "Delete Files" button. Press the "Clear History" button. Close the browser and it open it again. Should be fine.

BTW, Google has a "View as html" option for PDF documents, too.

Also, you're not limited to Adobe's products when selecting a PDF reader.

Garry,

That can't be right... If they're TRACTOR gods, they'd be mine and not yours... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
