I’ve never had high tensile fence before and even though im sure it’s easy to work with, it’s a little daunting up front.

I have to widen a current 10’ gate on my property to be a 40-50’ opening for my new driveway…pic attached.

Any resources to read or watch that help with learning how to do this?

All we ever had was high tensile. Much easier on an animal's hide and easily electrified if necessary. Totally adverse to barbed wire. Easy to install and far as gate width, just use 2 gates, not one.

Good bracing and tensioners (spring and ratchet).

Tractor supply as well as Farm and Fleet will have all the necessary components in stock. Not all that expensive either.

We have had better luck with some of the higher quality ratchets and springs from the various fencing outfits.
Our fences have a lot of trees around them and frequently get limbs falling on them, a quick zip with a saw and they bounce right back up often sometimes needing a click or two on a takeup ratchet.

Never an issue here. If you need a a bale of 12.5 gauge HT wire, I have at least 5000 feet in the barn I'll never use as I've removed all the HT fence last year when the herd was sold.

The key factor for high tensile fence is strong braces to pull from. In a gate opening especially, the tension the wire tends to pull the posts. Consider double h braces on both sides of the gate.

Why you cross brace and use HT wire to tie the horizontal and vertical posts together. Just do what the Amish do, they know real well.
