Although he was utterly spoiled and had the most pampered life and never lacked for anything, Piper had to be put to sleep because of advanced renal failure. He was adopted as a stray at about 8 months of age back in late 2001, and it was discovered about five years ago he had only one normal kidney and a tiny second one. After learning that, I told others he had a heart so filled with love he didn't have room in his body for two normal size kidneys. He is pictured below, today I need to build him an oak coffin and bury him out back. While I knew this day was coming, I kept hoping it would never happen.
