I need to bury my oldest cat today....

Although he was utterly spoiled and had the most pampered life and never lacked for anything, Piper had to be put to sleep because of advanced renal failure. He was adopted as a stray at about 8 months of age back in late 2001, and it was discovered about five years ago he had only one normal kidney and a tiny second one. After learning that, I told others he had a heart so filled with love he didn't have room in his body for two normal size kidneys. He is pictured below, today I need to build him an oak coffin and bury him out back. While I knew this day was coming, I kept hoping it would never happen.

Sorry to hear that Bill. Have had our current cat about 7 yr, the longest we have had in a while, wonder how much longer we will have him.

Sorry for you loss JD....My Son just lost his 12 yr. old English Bulldog to Cancer...and just a day after he , his wife and daughter buried him...their 2 cats were killed by Coyotes and carried off...it was caught on his game camera...he had one cat for 13 yrs. and the other for 10...So he lost all his pets in a couple of days...Imagine that...very sad.

Know the feeling. We lost one sunday. came home and found dead along the road.

I'm very sorry to hear about Piper. I'm sure he became a beloved member of your family. He would have been an old man in human terms. No matter how long we have our pets it will never be long enough. I'm glad he had such a caring family to share his life with. Aren't cats wonderful? Such a big space to leave in your home. He's at peace and not suffering any longer. Your suffering will diminish with time and then only happy memories will remain.

Sorry to hear that, our cats were almost always strays that adopted us. We no longer own any pets, but understand how important they are.
