I put in a Pool

After Eddie posted I went back and looked at the pictures. Why aren't there beams on the ends and only on the middle three sections? Just curious.

Weather here is finally hitting 90s this week. Our pool felt great yesterday afternoon! Nothing like a good dip to cool off.

Well like I said I am no carpenter just trying to build a deck for my pool I didn't put braces on the outter ends because I screwed them to the boards not saying this is right just answering why I didn't put braces on out side ends. Deck is very soilded I liked the idea's Eddie had about bolting and braceing. I will be adding them.

Good for you. When we built our deck 15+ years ago, I used 2 x 12 beams. I bolted 1 to each side of a 4x4 as you will be doing. I nailed them in place, then drilled through and used a couple bolts through each one. No problems so far. Deck is still solid. But you every once in a while I read about deck, porch or dock collapsing when too many people are on them and you wonder.... hmmmm, should I have invited so many people and hmmmmm.... should I have built this deck stronger? Makes you appreciate building codes and compentent contractors a tad more.

Duckhunter27 it looks nice. You could still add the carriers on the ends - it would be a good idea. A guy recently showed pictures of his new deck on this forum and when he planked it off he tried to keep the outside ends even but it wound up having a saw toothed look. Run your planks over the rim joist 4 inches or so and when you get done planking it snap a chalk line so that there is a 2 inch overhang and when you trim it it'll look much nicer. The carriage bolts through the support beams isn't a bad idea either. A contractor that I know and respect told me you don't need them but I did it anyway. If it falls down it is a disgrace (and possibly a lawsuit) for whoever built it. Have fun with it.
