Up on in the loft on the 'puter, I heard a loud "thump", and saw a bird falling on the other side of our large West facing gable windows. It was 1 degree F outside, so I went down and found the little fella laying face down in the snow, wings spread & knocked completely out. Brought him inside and held him close for about 10 min. He was pretty groggy for some time with a slow heartbeat, then began perking up and looking around just before he decided he wanted to rip my head off and stip some skin off my hand. I took him outside and "released Kato" into the wild & he flew to a tree about 40' away, looked back at me with not one ounce of thankfulness...{sigh}
Anyway the little bugger was a young Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker, so I rekon he lived up to his name:laughing::
So I took off my Red Cape and had a cocktail....all is well on the farm this cold cold evening:thumbsup:
