Jim, I'm sorry I know so little about the TC 18 and the small Kubotas, my use for those would be for mowing and since I already have a large mower, its hard for me to gather interest in this area.
The likelyhood of finding problems is much greater as your base expands. From the way I see it, Kubotas participation rate here is at least 7 to 1 over New Holland, perhaps much greater when you take into account that about 1/3 of New Hollands posts come from folks who use Kubotas. (Congratulations to New Holland in hitting the 1000 post mark in the owners forum a few weeks ago). There is no question whatsoever that there are so many more Kubotas out here in Northern California then New Holland compacts that it makes a comparison of failures very difficult. I have yet to see a Boomer in my area. There are many Kubotas, probably up in the hundreds in my immediate area as there is so much agriculture all around from fruit growers (the nectarine trees are all in full bloom) to vegetable growers to vineyards, and I have yet to see one of the new Boomers which I do regard as a very fine tractor. The incident of problems reported whether from neglect, hard use or product design is bound to be influenced by the sheer volume of tractors out there. Also, I did a very simple search for New Holland and found these problems on far fewer then 9 pages, perhaps we have our computers configured different. Rat...
P.S. I picked up a box scraper and the dealer gave me some great info on tractor sales he had at his desk and I ran off without getting a copy. I'll work on getting those posted should I visit him again, I think it would be interesting although I don't believe all that telling as to which tractor to buy.
