I think I found my hunting truck - 2001 Ram 1500

Regular cab, short wheel base, Sport, offroad package, 5.9 gas V8, automatic, little over 100,000 miles so I ran a Carfax and the mileage jives as well as no wrecks show up. Was sold new and has always been renewed right there in the same 50 mile radius.

Truck is DIRTY - but good tires and hasn't been messed with. Interior is dirty but intact. Few dings and small dents but everything is straight and original.

So I got what I was looking for in my price range so I guess I will be rolling Mopar style through the woods this fall and it will fit in our current stable of white vehicles (if I ever wash it).

The 5.9 and 5.2 for that matter are both bullet proof.

Won't take long to get a good 1/2 inch coating of mud all over.

I'm pumped. I've got a spare aluminum tool box from my Chevy I sold last year to put on it for my chains and such and I am going to get one of those $99 harbor freight truck crane deals and bolt it in the bed so one person can load or for that matter skin out a deer by themselves. Behind the seat gun scabbard and I am set!

My Dad has gotten up in years this past year would not go without me; hopefully, he will use this truck some and go by himself more. I've got a couple of shooting houses set up this year he can get to easier and if he shoots anything in those food plots he can walk back to the road and get this truck and drive straight to it.

I have one with the 5.2 in it and the biggest repair I have done is a tie rod end. 150,000 and still a great truck. Hope you like yours as well as I like mine.

My dad has a 98 with the 5.9, odometer didn't work for a few years until he finally had to have the tranny rebuilt. He estimates it has around 350k with no motor work. He's done the front ball joints and bearings a couple times, had the rearend rebuilt, and a fuel pump... and of course the tranny- but only once lol.
