I think there is an image posting problem...

Well I never used to have a problem posting images...

Recently I could not change the image under my name...and the only way I could make it happen is by locally going to a dos window and renaming the image as .jpg instead of .jpeg, which I think Windows XP must use...but with this same computer and same XP operating system images used to post without problem.

This evening I tried twice to post images and they don't seem to work. What happens is that a little box with a red X shows, but not the image... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Did something at TBN change?

I will try to attach an image to this post. It is under 100K and is a jpeg. I assume it is a jpeg, since my user image was a jpeg until I manually named it as a .jpg.

But I never had to rename images before...

I am really confused about this...posting images has NEVER been a problem at my end before...

Is there some delay sometimes between when an image is uploaded and when it actually appears? It did not used to be this way...

In the meantime I will stay happily /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif since what was really wasn't after all... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Could be at my end, who knows? I certainly don't. But I do know I have posted a LOT of images in the past from this same computer without any problem...and I am confused by the fact that the images are apparently accepted but sometimes take and sometimes don't.

I also got 'picture not found'.

I then took the URL shown in atributes of JohnK's later picture in that thread, substituted your post#, and still no joy. Regardless of 'Attachment' showing on your post, there's no picture to be found.

Have you tried adding the picture by editing your post?

A few days ago, I fixed a typo in the URL you posted in this message, and it now works.

The one you point to here gives me an error message indicating that the file is corrupt (the file -- not you /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif ). Could have been a transmission error when you uploaded it. It happens once in a while.

There is no delay after uploading. Once it's there, it's there, and you can reference it immediately. There doesn't seem to be any glitches at the TBN end, but there's always that possibility. Since you've been bitten more than once, the odds of it being at your end, or somewhere in between, seem more likely.

Hmm... I guess that's not very helpful, is it? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Like a doctor told me a couple of years ago -- "let's wait and see if it goes away". (It eventually did.)

I really don't know...but I do know that I tried uploading the image several times so one would think it would have got there not corrupted one of those times... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

On top of that, I don't think I have ever typed in a URL...only cut and pasted...but I could have not cut the whole thing I suppose... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Funny thing was that after I attached the picture of my tractor with the pipe hanging off the side...and tried a couple times to make it work and it did not, then I put that same image in this thread...and it then started working in the other thread as well!

I have no idea what this means...but I do know that I thought that to get my picture to change under my name (80x80 image) I had to rename it from a .jpeg extension to .jpg.

Maybe while I was doing that you were making a change at the same time? But I doubt that as when a image is uploaded I never type the url, but rather browse till I find the image and click on it... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
