Hello,
I am new here. I have read some of the posts & think you have some knowledgeable people here. I am hoping someone would take the time to
try to help me out. I am looking to get a yanmar & want to get the proper HP for my needs. I want to get enough HP to operate a 5' tiller, 5' bush hog, & a single or preferably a double bottom plow. I don't want to get one that will just handle this equipment & overwork the tractor. I am located in west central texas, my land is flat, & the soil is fairly good no large rocks.
Thank you for any & all input...bbfarmer...aka,confused.

If you are going to pull a double bottom plow . get a 3110 D.

I believe something in the 20-25 hp would be more than adequate for what he listed. a 2210 or 2610 would be good choices, IMHO.;)

Welcome bbfarmer,
I'm not familiar with plowing but aside from that, the best value is in a YM2210. Listen to Gizmo though, he has first-hand experience with several models.

I have a YMG2000D with 23hp (+/-) Will it pull a double bottom plow through unworked dirt?

I have 24 hp (20 pto hp) and that's not enough for the ground-engaging tasks described here. I think the next size up (2210??) would be working real hard with a double bottom plow so the next step above that would be the minimum for what the OP wants.

tony123 I have the same tractor that you do and I don't think that it would pull a double bottom plow. It is more a weight thing than a horsepower thing. When I stop the tractor with a implement it does not lift the front end but spins the tires. I have a pretty good size grey topped weight on the seat but no other weight. To pull a 2 bottom you would need to add weight to back of tractor (filled tires or wheel weights). I have a FEL that added weight to tractor but not to rear. I thought that I did not need loader untill I got one and now can't do with out. big dan

A 2210 will pull double bottom plow if you load the back tires . And have the right plow and it set up right. but if you hit hard ground it is going to spin . Because you are not going to have the weight you need.
