I want to see this pickup drive away.

(CL ad)

I just got over 10 tons of 5/8 minus for a driveway delivered to our house on Monday. We are going to do something different and need to get rid of half. So, 5 tons are for sale for $50 if you load and haul it.
It is perfectly clean still.
I dont have a scale, we just need to estimate, a full size pick up truck can hold about 2.5 yards or about 3.37 tons. So if you load up a pickup, its $30.

What? You don't think the poster knows what a half ton truck means?

Not quite as bad, but sent my first wife to get another load of sand in my '74 3/4 ton Chevy. She was with me when we got the first load. Wanted another load about that size (2500 lbs.) She came back with
5230 lbs! She told them that was too much. They said just drive slow, it would be OK. Didn't seem to hurt the truck any.

That's almost exactly what I accidentally put on my '73 K20. Didn't quite touch the rubber bumpers as I remember. It just looked like a little dab in the corner of the huge loader bucket, so I told them to dump it in. The brakes didn't work very well on the way home, otherwise no problem.

One of Dad's farmer friends had several thousand acres of potatoes and said we could come get some. We took the 73 Chevy long box, 2wd out to where they were digging. The friend was on the digger and waved us over. When the semi truck cleared, he had us pull under and filled the box heaping full before we could react. It rode low going home and we gave away many sacks of spuds...

We are digging a pond at my place. I had a guy call and want some dirt. I told him my prices if I deliver and told him if he picked it up it was free. He came right over in his half ton truck. I had a heaping bucket on my backhoe (1.3 yards I think) and told him I would dump it in his truck slowly and to tell me when to stop. He said dump it all and I did. His back bumper was nearly dragging the ground. I guess he made it wherever he was going I never heard from him again. I am guessing it was around 2,500 lbs which is a lot for a half ton.

Some newer truck have high payloads.

You definitely need to be careful with those loads that might look ok, but be way too heavy. Many moons ago, I had a 79 GMC heavy half, and a pallet of 80 pound concrete bags was centered in the bed over the axle. It squatted some, but not too bad. Where I ran into the big problem was the awful noises coming from the rear end. Ended up crushing one of the rear axle bearings, and it scored my axle shaft bad enough that I had to track down a replacement for that, too. Wish I would've rented a heavier duty truck or trailer for that one. The rental price would have been cheaper than my repairs.

A pallet of concrete has 42 bags - 3,360 lb. that is a lot of weight for sure. We used 22 pallets of concrete when we built my fence. I remember them all to well. My tractor at the time would barely pick them up with the FEL and it was so light in the rear it would get stuck in my gravel yard.
