I’ve got a question for all of you who use IBC tote cages to store and move firewood.

What do you do with all of the 275-300 gallon plastic containers?

I’m pretty sure that they won’t fit into the dumpster at the recycling center!

Thanks.

Frank

Some people cut it in half and use the halves to cover the firewood that was previously put on the cages that has to sit outside, in the elements.

Well if I can ever get ahold of some (most folks selling them here think they are selling gold bars), I will just take the bladders out and haul them to the landfill myself. I would prefer to have the tote frame completely open to air to aid in wood drying.

Same here. Prices they ask are nuts.

Fortunately i got one from my fertilizer supplier WITHOUT a bladder () for free.

I used it to make a storage cage for welding gas tanks.

Hey I like that idea. Pretty handy to store and move around that way.

I see them for sale on CL quite often for $35

I set the innards of mine up as a water tank. Set it on a mish-mash of railroad tie and other timber pieces as a base, then added some 1/2 conduit around the sides to help it contain itself. A quarter of a 55 gallon barrel is turned upside down on top of it that acts as a catch basin and funnel to collect rain water into it.

Some of mine - I'll cut in half to cover totes that have firewood. Other ones I'll give away on Craigslist and people wash them out and connect them to their downspouts for water storage for lawns and gardens. They never seem to sit in my yard longer than a week.

Very interesting,
Just so many TOTES out there and so many applications possible.
From DIY showers to 3 point lift cages.
Heck I know one guy that built retaining walls and planted trees in them.
What's next.

LOL, a TOTE forum?
