B2650,
Some guy has access to a firefighting plane and had the pilot do a drop on him.

Kind of like the reverse of jumping off a bridge. Water at speed can't get out of the way fast enough to not be painful.

Botched ice bucket challenge leaves man critically injured after plane drops hundreds of gallons of water - Europe - World - The Independent

Plane traveling at least 80 MPH probably faster, dropping 400 gallons of water, what could possibly go wrong.

Don't know if plane shown in link is the correct one.

He survived. Darwin must have been napping.
I wonder if he said this before it happened:
"Hey je al die kijken
maar Houd mijn teken ...
... en mijn bier"

(Translated to: "Hey you all watch this, but hold my sign.....and my beer.")
(Note: the English-Dutch translator wouldn't translate "y'all")

That's pretty good.

I bet this guy wished the airplane with the water was handy.

I would think that firefighters would know enough not to get close to power lines. Seems these guys were spraying water on a group from above and after got too close and the power jumped the gap between the over head lines and the bucket truck.

4 firefighters injured during Ice Bucket Challenge - CNN.com

As voltage increases the ability for it to find a closer path to ground and jump gaps also increases. Over head lines have minimum of 12' and could go over 20' safe distance, depending on the voltage.

3 articles, 3 planes, but only the last article shows what is possibly the plane, or type of plane, that was used. The first one is a Pilatus single engine turboprop passenger plane, in other words just an airplane picture. The second one is labeled from image stock, another stock photo but at least this time it is a water drop plane. The third article goes into more detail saying the plane used is a plane contracted by the Spanish government as a fire bomber. The plane is a French government owned fire bomber. There is a possibility this is the right plane, but also strong possibility it is another stock photo. News is amazingly inaccurate in selecting a picture of the correct plane type, etc., for illustration. But then again having spent half my career in farm machine engineering, I have learned the only farm machine is a tractor whether it is a combine, planter, or even grain auger. The other half was in construction equipment where a hydraulic excavator, wheel loader, grader, or the like is a bulldozer, and anything that compacts is a steamroller of which I don't think any were produced since before World War I.
