Hello,
Here is how this thing came about.

1 I was at work.
2 Temperature dropped, snow fell.
3 Wife got on tractor which was in the barn, it started she made it out of the barn 10 feet.
4 Tractor died
5 She discovered that the fuel filter was iced up.
6 she took it off the bowl and filter and cleaned it out and put it back on.
7 She then tried to start it with the bowl empty.
8 I came home and got her story.
9 I thanked her for trying but kept what was on my mind to myself, well geez she is my partner!

Here are the tools i have to work with;

Hand tools, propane heater, generator, a quart of some stuff all the loggers use around here in the winter to start their diesel engines at higher elevations in the winter the stuff is called Diesel 911.

What steps would be the best to take for a favorable out come to this episode?

Many thanks in advance!

Best Regards,
stuck in the woods Steve

Using the Diesel 911 as directed on the bottle, fill up your fuel tank. Fill the fuel filter bowl with that mixture. Bleed the injectors. Start (hopefully). You might have to heat the whole tractor up if the fuel lines are gelled (not just the filter). Resolve to always use diesel fuel treatment, especially in the fall and winter. Buy your wife flowers (for the best outcome), and get those nasty thoughts out of your head because it would have happened to you if you had tried to drive it.

Hello Chris,

Thanks a lot for the information, especially taking the time to send the manual page! I would get my wife some flowers right away but I have to walk 17 miles each way to get them, and by the time I got back here they would be frozen! May be I should bring her back some upscale ice cream?

Best Regards,
Steve

Yep you are right, by golly! I showed her the post and my original message, she said she was honored by it and went out and fed the chickens!

I would guess fuel line is froze to injector pump and /or to fuel tank.

Hello,
Thanks a lot, I got it started and got a mile and a quarter of the drive plowed. Another 3/4 to a mile to go. Should be out by noonish tomorrow. I sure appreciated the helpful direction I got here on TBN!

Thanks again!

Best Regards,
Steve
