Over the last 6 months or so, I've found 3 of these. One in the house, one in the garage, and one on the barn floor. Haven't a clue where they are coming from. But they was part of something at one point anyone know?

The image is kind of blurry but it could also be a cotter ring.

If you find any clevis pins laying around you’ll know why!

I know it as an easy on key ring, but I am mystified as to why they are sprouting all over for you. Have you been too keyed up lately?:)

The helicoils that I have used have been diamond in cross section, and that would be a monster helicoil.

No idea what it is really.

All the best,

It's some type of keeper ring. Never seen that type before.

I'd be checking all the attachment points on the 3-point hitch.

Clevis pins without keeper rings - missing clevis pins on implements.

I think it's a lot lighter Duty than that maybe something out like a piece of luggage or something of that nature. But it does bother me that I found so many of these things over the last 6 months. They're coming from somewhere.

Yes, I hate finding unidentifiable objects around the property. Through long, hard, experience, I have learned to file them until I figure it out.

A long while back, I found an odd dark screw with two different threads on it just inside the house. I kept for a few weeks and then pitched it. About a year later, I noticed the lower part of the front door handle was missing one screw. I unscrewed another, and low and behold, it was a dark, two threaded screw. Replacements are $95. You have to buy a whole new door handle/lock from Schlage...

Good luck on the search. Hopefully it is something simple like a backpack zipper.

All the best,

Peter

I have had similar experience with finding a strange part, which I later determined to be needed.

I was also thinking it could be some sort of household item. Since he found one in the house and one in the garage, that would tend to rule out a tractor or implement part. Puzzling.

I was out checking on a skidder/chainsaw job last fall and found a bolt laying in the road. I showed it to the contractor, who happened to be there, and to the woodcutter but they didn't think it came off any of the equipment. The mechanic saw it though and knew just what it was; some essential bolt which would have left the skidder stranded in the woods if they'd kept running it.
