2008 bx2350 Used the tractor for few hours. With out previous issues, Rinsed it down wiped it clean. Came back few hours later. Turn key. Nothing. Dash display blinks on off, check all the normal switches. Pto, seat, hst pedal high low selector etc. nothing. Come back next day. Battery is dead. Huh. ?? Recharge install Trace down to no power at starter solenoid Jumped it out and fires up. Runs. But cuts off and on. Drive into shop to work on it from the back yard. Shop is much easier to work on things.

Do some more checking and now I have power at starter solenoid ?? What the heck. Starts with the key but still cuts on and off.

The engine cutting on and off was of course the shut down solenoid opening and closing. So back trace it to the shut down timer. ( the dead battery was caused by the shut down timer sticking "on "sending power to shut down solenoid ). So I Figure shut down timer got wet or just bad. Replaced at a cost of a Ben Franklin. Ouch. You guessed it. Same problem. Do some more tracing of the wiring diagrams Into the shut down timer is two circuits. One from safety's the other thru Pto and hst pedal switches.

Side note. In beginning of this I pushed hard on PTO lever to make switches close.

My findings came down to the PTO switch itself It has two circuits running thru it. Start circuit and a safety circuit. When engine was started all was good on that side. But the other side The vibration of engine running was bouncing the lever against the switch thus causing it to open and close. Really fast. I had to stand hard on lever so it would run. Readjusted switch which was two Phillips head screws loosely in place Tighten them tight. And now she runs like new.

the lost power at starter solenoid at the beginning has never resurfaced. ??? Long as it does not come back. All is good.

So to all of those that have that PTO lever that always needs slapping to get the thing to start /run. Adjust it. It's easy.
