I just buy a brand new Jinma 254, I get a good deal on it because the engine was not running. The dealer tell me that they put the tractor together start the engine and drive it in the warehouse were it stay for about 7 month. When they try to start it again the engine dont want to run. I buy the tractor and put it in my shop, first i check if the glow plug was running and if fuel is going to the pump, this part was ok. After I check if the shut-off lever is coming back to the ON position, the lever itself is coming back but i dont feel or ear the rod inside the pump moving from OFF to ON or reverse. So I open the back of the pump and I found that the shut-off lever inside the pump is stock in the OFF position. All the inside of the pump was filled with a sticky stuff, I believe that it's the result of the poor quality oil that they use in China when they put the tractor toghether. The shut-off rod was so stuck that I have to use a small hammer to make it move. I clean the inside of the pump with brake-cleaner reclose it and fill it with good quality oil (about 20 oz go in the pump). After all that I jump in the cab and crank the engine and it start. This tractor was new and the rod stick in the pump, i believe this problem can happen on many chinese tractor if the original oil stay in the pump. On my Jinma 254 it's easy to remove the back cover of the pump, first remove the oil filter and is adapter from the engine, removed the throtle rod and the shut-off cable. After that removed the back cover of the pump and the little cover on it side that it;s hold in place by 4 little srew. If you want to drain the oil in the pump first, it have 2 drain plug at the bottom of the pump. After the pump is open clean it well with brake cleaner, move the rode when you do the claening. After that put everything in place and fill the pump with good diesel motor oil, I use ROTELA OIL. This work can be perform by every body with minimum mecanic skill and simple tool, dont be scare no parts are going to fly away when you open the pump. You are going to need new gasket for the oil filter, or you can use high temp silicone (If you use silicone dont put to much, that can clog the filter) . Have fun! I hope this is helping some of you. I take some picture of the job, I will put it on the post later.
