Ignition switch problem

I always wondered what a small 25HP diesel would cost and how big is its footprint? Would it fit in the same space as the Kohler 25HP gas engine? I have seen the Kohler for $1500.00.

I saw a Kubota D1105-E engine (comes in a B2410 tractor) that looks interesting. I just can't find a price on the engine. I also found a spec page. I might just fit in a PT425. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif If my engine barfs in 10 or 15 years, I might look into it /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif.

Dave,

Thanks for posting this saga about the switch. I have been contemplating swapping mine out as well. The last owner had trouble with it and partially bypassed it with a push button for start. Occasionally the key switch will stick in the on position, requiring me jiggle the switch while messing with the throttle to shut her down.

I too was going to just get a generic key unit...not now /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

No prob, Wasabi. Yeah, the biggest issue was that these switches (made by Indak) pretty much all look the same, no part # on the switch, nothing. You have to examine it very closely to see that the poles are arranged and marked a little differently. Terry at PT told me to get a 5 pole switch, but I notice that the right switch that they sent me has 6 poles. I'm wishing Don would recover from his heart-attack and return to work. He knows even my old 1418 by heart...

Thanks, Charlie. So, what you're telling me here is that seat time is not only a good thing for the operator, it's a good thing for the tractor.

Hmmm, maybe I should get the finish mower? The only place grass will grow at my house is the front yard, which takes me about 15 minutes to mow with a push mower. If I bought the PT mower, it would still take 15 minutes (5 minutes to hook up the mower, 5 minutes to mow, 5 minutes to unhook the mower). Sounds like a great trade-off to me...wonder if I could convince my lovely wife? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Hey MR:

Northern Tool lists the B&S Vanguard liquid-cooled 3 cylinder diesel for a little over $3000. I've actually seen some "new/old" Deutz oil-cooled mini-diesels on Ebay (apparently a new engine from old stock or something like that) for around $1500. I think it was http://www.engineroom.com or something like that.

Hey MR:

I just stumbled across some small diesel engines from Daedong (used in Kioti tractors, don't know if that's good or bad, I'd imagine good../w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif)...go here:
