Ignition switch problem

I have a TO35 in which the ignition switch went bad. I got a new universal switch, and it only works if I hold key in start position for several seconds and jiggle the sterring wheel back and forth very hard. Then I got an AI Products switch (883928M91) switch just for MF. It didn't work at all (a tractor mechanic said this switch only works on diesel TO354s (mine is gas), despite the mfg. claim that it works for both. Then I got another 3-pin switch that an on-line tractor dealer said would work on gas TO35. It doesn't work either.

None of the switches tell you how to hook up. Using an ohmeter, I thing I found the pin on each one that gets the + connection. Switch positions (2-4) show continuity with the single pole + connection, and I take a lead from one of the switch position contacts to the coil. Can anybody help with this problem?

The TO35 didn't have a all-in-one switch, see pages uploaded, but if yours has been fitted out different then the first turn of the key will be the ignition on (battery to coil) and the next turn will be the start (feed to starter solenoid).

Wow! Thank you so much. I had not been able to find even a tractor dealer who knew how to get this wiring diagram.
