FORD 1900
I have a model 1900 compact diesel (yr-1980), love this machine, have had virtually no problems with it, use it all over my woodlands. The ignition switch failed/jammed. I marked the wires & had the switch rekeyed, but upon reassembly discovered the marks had blurred & I don't want to put them in the wrong position/burn something up. Anybody out there have a diagram, a photo, or can direct me on which wires go where? It has 5 poles that are marked/numbered on back of the switch. If anyone can help my out, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Russell, Many thanks for sending the diagram, & I thought it looked right. I just went out to put it together & found a couple differences in the numberings on the back of the switch. All colors of wires from my tractor harness leading to the switch seem to correspond with what is in the daigram. But comparing the actual switch: AC (2 red wires) @ top is the same on both. moving clockwise: next # is 17 on diagram, & same as my switch (B/W wire).
Clockwise again: next on diagram is #30 (wires from glow plug & glow signal on same post). But on my switch this is #61.
Clockwise again: diagram has no # but mine is #50 (other wire from glow signal).
Finally, the center wire on ther diagram is #19 (blue wire), but mine is marked #30. I started to connect this post & got a blue spark (didn't notice a spark when dissassembled), & red lights flashed on the dash panel (key is not inserted). Seemed like a bad sign so I left the blue wire off.
Do you have any ideas on the # differences, what I might try at this point? Thank you

Hi! The best is check wires and switch with a volmeter. Work with battery ground disconnected. Check the switch first in all positions with ohmsmeter.May be bad or different Go with wires color so the blue is 12 volts from battery. And from diagram the black /white is starter. No the number. Good luck Oldmech

Lets back up and try again. Attached is the wiring diagram from my repair manual. It is a little different.

Thanks oldmech for responding, The 2nd diagram sent by Russell is very close to mine, makes more sense now, but I still get a spark if I touch the blue wire to the center terminal, even with the key out, which has me a bit concerned. Does this mean a short somewhere?..voltage running to ground?... or is this normal? I will disconnect the ground as you suggested & check for voltage though the switch to the different poles. i.e. 12V to glow plugs & indicator, & to starter...Any other ideas/warnings? Thanks
