Where do I get some Hytrans? So far, can't find it locally (Knoxville, TN)

What can I use instead of?

I've found some Lucas Oil "Universal Hydraulic / Transmission" oil....

Will that work?

The only Case dealer I specifically know of is near 2 hours away in Jonesboro.

If there's someone else nearby, I haven't found them yet.

This is a new to me tractor. Transmission was floppy as anything when I got it. Needed the range selector fixed under the case and I also replaced the shift cylinder on the side along with most everything else inside the shift housing. Haven't put it back together yet (waiting on my shift fork to be returned) but... messing around with the shift cover, it is absolutely amazing how different it is.

I now realize that before I fixed this, I really wasn't in any gear... it was more pot luck!

Thanks for the idea... don't you know... I have a Kubota dealer roughly 40 minutes away. They also carry New Holland.

I called them. I got one of the 'good ole boys' He sounded like he was in his 80's and spoke with a thick accent which made it very difficult to clearly understand him. From what I gather, they carry a different line than the NH line of fluids.

I will probably call them back (or stop by if/when I'm near them) and check again. I really don't trust the answers when I have a difficult conversation like that with someone. If "HE" had a thick accent, he might have felt that "I" had a thick accent and therefor maybe he didn't fully get what I was looking for.

(shrugs shoulders)

Just trying to keep an open mind.

I will say, I might have better luck winning the lottery than it seems finding these various fluids. Here I am, TRYING to keep the recommended fluid and it's really proving to be fairly difficult.

Perhaps I've just not looked under the correct rock....and once I find that rock it will be easy/peasy..... but there seem to be a lot of rocks out there and so far, they're turning up blank!

IF that tractor was mine, I'd stick with HYtran or the NH equivalent...

I wouldn't mix oil's and I wouldn't use a cheapo oil in it either.

BTW, I use HYtran in my AGCO's and I really like and trust that oil.

That's my problem.....finding it. I really don't mind using whats recommended although I know IH or Case doesn't manufacture the oil so it could be similar to something else, ALA, the NH equivalent...

You find it at a CIH or NH dealer, bite the bullet and drive to one! I don't think anyone else sells it.

Buy enough so you don't have to go back soon...

I can’t imagine it’s that hard to find a NH or CIH dealer near Knoxville, TN. Both manufacturers have dealer locator tools on their websites.

Our local IH dealer actually uses Shell Spirax S4 TXM.

Here's a bit of a rhetorical question....

Been hunting dealers. Found a NH dealer that carries the Master Tran. He's let's call it, 17 miles to my east.

Now, 65 miles to my WEST, I find a Case/IH dealer.

My work makes me travel to seven different counties....AND, I get reimbursed for my mileage.

If I go the 17 miles to my east, that is NOT my territory....I have no business to conduct over there and, I get zero mileage. AND the product is Master Tran.

If I go the 65 miles to my west, I DO have business to conduct over there, I DO get mileage and they DO have "Hytran"....

So, guess where I'm going?!!

I will only use Hy-tran in my IH tractors. I've got a 1066 and a 1466. They are good old tractors and I will gladly pay extra in hy-tran to take care of it. Maintenance is cheaper than repairs.
