I found an IH 354 I am interested in but I noticed a puff of white smoke every now and then. How much exhaust smoke is acceptable in an old gas engine ?

Could even be a little moisture in the muffler from condensation too this time of year. My little Super C's & 240, & actually all the rest of them will do that on first start-up if it's cool, or humidity is up.[/QU
I have been kicking tires now for over a month trying to find the " right " tractor for my purposes . Are those old farmalls you have able to use a modern day bushhog or finish mower with the offset pto? The reason I ask is there is a nice Farmall 100 up the road from me as well . The 354 looks like a great tractor but I dont think my Tacoma could pull it without some sort of transmision problems even though it seems like a good first tractor for a small market garden start up which is what me and the old lady are doing . I have done a bunch by hand and a borrowed Mf 135 which was great . It had even been sunk in a saltwater creek back in the 60's and the perkins diesel still runs like a top -very impressive . Was thinking about a refurbished yanmar but that seems a little like throwing money away when an older larger tractor is less expensive.
