Ih 424 diesel fuel trouble

I have to bleed my fuel lines on my 424 every 5 to 10 minutes, after i bleed them it runs fine then just dies. is this caused by a bad fuel pump? When i loosen the bleeder screws on the pump there is so much air in the lines it makes a hissing sound.

Sounds like you have a leak on the suction side of the injector pump. This could let it suck air into the system. My old 424 gas had an electric fuel pump and if your diesel has an electric fuel pump I would look at the line between the tank and the fuel pump.
