Was trying to do some square baling with an IH 435 today but keep having trouble with the baler not wanting to cut the twine and make a new bale. Upon further investigation I discovered the knotter trip arm wasn't wanting to trip. In order to make it trip you have to go back and hit on the arm mechanism and then it would trip and tie the bale. the knotters seem to be working fine once the arm is tripped but I don't know what could be causing the problem. So I figured I'd ask on here to see if I could get some possible answers.

Thanks

Sound like that arm and the trip clutch on the knotter are binding. Spray all the connections with WD40 and cycle the knotter repeatedly to loosen up the mechanism. The knotter shaft on my MF124 square baler had an adjustable brake on the end opposite the trip clutch. I suppose your baler has something similar. The brake mechanism should be cleaned and adjusted.

Good luck
