Hi, I'm having a problem removing the transmission top cover on my IH 444 1976. I've tried removing the lift housing as described in the workshop manual but i cant get it off. I've losened all cover bolts (11 pcs I think) and removed the suction filter. Anyone have a suggetion to what I'm doing wrong? I can upload som pics if that is to any help. Regards Gustav

Hi Gustav,
What manual are you using? I've never removed the transmission top cover on my tractor but the IT Shop Manual describes removing the top cover plate of the lift housing and then disconnecting the safety chain "on models so equipped". Have you looked in the lift housing to see if your tractor has the chain?
