IH 584 fuel starvation maybe?

My 1979 IH 584 has started chugging and revving and it looks like it has a fuel starvation problem. I am going to replace the 2 fuel filters but is there a fuel/water separator in the fuel line? Anything else I need to look into, apart from plenty fuel.

Fuel filters first and while off make sure you have a good flow from the tank!

No they didn't here in the US.

How's this for a Newbi mistake.
Checked for fuel at fuel tank tap and nothing. Checked there was fuel in, removed tap, full of c**p.
Tractor working fine now but will still change filters.

I own a 684 and had the same issue last week. I thought I had run out of fuel but there was a little in the tank. I found
the fitting with the shutoff valve clogged. I decided to drain tank, remove all tank fittings, clean them and clean the tank the
best I could. When i drained the tanks put a towel over a funnel in a clean jug to strain the filth. Amazing what has collected
in the tank. Now it runs fine. Probably something that needs done every couple of years. I will check the gasket on my
fuel cap to be sure it is good.
