I'am thinking of purchasing a 106 it looks to be in great shape for old machine.Just wondering if any one out there has rebuilt one and the pros and cons.I would like to find a 127 with a hydro. since I would use it to blow snow and I know you get a better cut with the hydr /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gifo. but I can't seem to find a good one out there.If anyone has one please feel free to contact me i'am in N J so would not want to travel to far to get it.

I have a '68 IH Cub Cadet 105. Hydrostatic works great to this day. I rebuilt the top end of the Kohler k241 2 years ago and all was still well within spec. It has been in my family for quite some time. I got it from my Grandfather. All is mechanically sound. I'd say go for it! If you need a snowblower I have an IH 42" single stage snowblower, made for the cub cadet. New drive chain and recently dissassmbled to be greased. It has not been used in 2 years and has been sitting in my shed. Good luck, they dont make them like a tank anymore.

Did Mike G get back to you regarding the snow blower? I've been looking for one for one of my Cub's. Let me know, I am interested. The 105 is a good model! I have a 147 I'm looking to get the snow blower on. My 126 is stored for the winter and my Original is in about 1,000 pieces in my shop. Look forward to your response.

Mike,
The older Kohlers are really good engines. Built to last! The only issue's, the valves will stick sometimes when they get warm. If you use a little Mystery oil in the gas tank it helps. The throttle plate tends to wear out as well. This is a bit more involved but not really difficult repair. The Kohler service manual is online and parts are very available. Good luck and keep the old ones alive!
