Can anyone tell me if IH made a one bottom little genius plow?

Welcome to the forum.
Yes they did make a single bottom plow. They are a little more rare than the 2 and 3 bottom ones. They came with a 16inch or 18inch bottom. They produced them from around 1925 up to 1960. Most likely the Little Genius #8 is what you have.

If your B is up to par, it should skin right along with that 16" in second gear, in decent loam soil. A 16" bottom was what came with the A's & B's mounted style.

I have plowed many a round pulling an A-C 16" single bottom with my BN, in second gear, @ about 3/4 throttle.

Try Chats Classis Tractors in Macomb, IL

Restored Antique Classic Farmall John Deere Allis Chalmers or Ford Tractors for Sale.

I got a two-bottom Litttle Genius from them a few years ago. Dick and Bob will know where to find what you're looking for.

Good luck.

I've found them, but $400.00 is a little rich for me..!! I sold my A-C single 16" a few years back, as seemed they weren't having club plowing days like they used to. NOW..., they are getting back into it. So..., found another nice lil' A-C single 16" again late last spring more in my price range, and bought it. Hopefully next spring, we'll get to turn a few acres over again..!! :)

I got the little genius one bottom I was after. The owner said it was ready to put in the ground as is. Any suggestions before I hook it up to my B and give it a try. It's a one 16" on steel wheels. needs paint but looks like its all there. The plow sheer and land slide are in good shape

Thanks for the help.

Congratulations. Check all bolts to be sure they are tight. Then you are ready to go do some plowing.

Do you have a swinging drawbar..?? As wide as the B's are, you'll be offset quite a bit on the hitch. You may have some sidedraft, if hooked to the regular drawbar. Just line up the insides of your right rear tire on tractor, and right wheel on plow, to both run in the furrow.

Wheel weight, or loaded tire on the left side will probably be a must...

Being that is a 16" bottom, after the second, or third round, you should be plowing 8" deep. Old rule of thumb is, a plow is designed to plow half as deep, as it is wide.

And me plowing in second gear, was in crop ground, not sod... Not sure what you will be turning over, but if it is sod ground, it may need to be in first, so don't be disappointed if it won't pull it in second the first time over.

If your not familiar with the type of soil, it may be best to go in first gear anyway, in case of rocks. And wouldn't hurt to oil up the break-away hitch, just in case..!!

Oh yeah... Pictures...!!
