I\'ll tell ya what, if it weren\'t for bad luck.....

sing along if you know the words....

Got the tractor back today, ran fine, of course it was pretty cool today so time will tell if it's really fixed. But I threw the pto belt, I didn't hit anything, it just flew apart.

****, I just can't win /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

How much do the pto belts run? I wonder if the service guys took the deck off at all, I wouldn't see why they would, but if they did, then they didn't put it on correctly. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Just last year about mid-season, on a 2001 2166, the PTO belt just decided to self-destruct. I'm not sure why. Anywho, a new one was about $27.

mojo, I think they are around $30 for the 2000/2500's I'm waiting for mine to self-destruct as well. I didn't have mine routed correctly over one of the front idler pullies when I R/R'd the deck to do the 5hr service. Didn't notice 'till I engaged the deck & the engine stalled /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. The belt has a huge gash going about 1/2 way thru it now, but it's still going strong!
G/luck

went and got the new belt today $25 & change. I guess not too bad as long as I don't have to replace it more than once every year or two.

I do have another question though, I was cleaning the underside of my deck of grass clumps today, and as I was scraping (I use a plastic paint edger) the paint on the deck was peeling off. Now, I know powdercoating isn't indestructable, but with the little use this tractor has seen, it seems too soon for this to happen. Am I looking at buying a new deck in 5 yrs now since the paint is off? I'm pretty bummed out that I've run into these problems already with this mower.

I only kept my Cub Cadet 4 years, but I did sandblast and repaint the bottom of the deck once, so I can't say how long they'll last, but I don't think it was likely to rust through for quite awhile.

well now that you mention it, you're probably right, but seems that most things like that now are powdercoated. maybe in a year or two, I'll have mine powdercoated through work. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If its any consequence ... I'm in the same boat with my 54" deck. New this spring and only mowed a few times, but I have paint pealing in 2x2 qnd 3x3 flakes!!
