It's bow season in Indiana now. The land next to me has changed hands and someone put up a deer stand over there a few feet off of me. Noticed that below their tree is a pile of corn. Is that legal?

Around here that's illegal. Don't know about where you live.

It’s illegal to bait deer in Indiana. That’s what Bing told me.

I’m glad it’s not illegal here in North Carolina.

If they do that in our area, its common practice to save as much of your pee as you can stand and spread it around the hunting area during the middle of the day. The deer with smell it from a long ways away and not come around.

No deer = no hunter.

No deer = no hunter.

That’s not cool with all the use of cameras these days.

Human urine does not necessarily repel deer...there are lots of examples of it actually attracting them...have seen myself on several occasions where hunters have relieved themselves only to find the next day the spot had been rutted up by a buck.

Based on this I would say no.

Deer attractants are illegal in Indiana | KP | kokomoperspective.com

Consult your lawbook.

Edit; they probably put it out for squirrels, chipmunks and other small animals. Any deer caught eating it will be shot.

CWD laws in my state make it illegal to put out any food that will attract deer year round. If you put out say corn for turkeys it has to be fenced in where only the turkeys can access it and keep the deer out. Also salt licks, mineral blocks(unless you are a farmer with cattle in a pasture),deer cocaine and other attractants are considered bating and you cannot hunt the area for 10 days after the attractant is removed.

There are several stories and several hunters, some that are in the hunting magazines recommend urinating in deer scraps, because the deer cannot tell human urine from deer urine and think an opposing buck has invaded there territory.
