I live up a 2.5 mile gravel road that I maintain but do not own. The local land fill is about 5 miles away but since they raised their rates it seems that my rural, out of the way road has become a good spot for illegal dumping.

I have rifled through a few piles in the last couple years and every single time I have found something with the illegal dumpers name on it. A quick call to my buddy who is a local State Trooper and the pile is cleaned up within 24 hours.

Well, a few days ago I was riding my quad in my back field ( which is not visible from the house) and there is a darn couch laying on the edge of my field. this time the illegal dumper dumped it on my property and I was mad for sure. So, I took the cushions off and low and behold there is an envelope with an address on it. I just happen to know these people in passing and they are low lifes for sure. So, I loaded up the couch in the truck this time and took the couch to the illegal dumpers house and dropped it off in their yard. By the time I got it off the truck the wife was standing on the porch so I told her I was returning her lost couch and no reward was necessary !!
Maybe not he best way to handle the situation but I was pretty mad at the time.

Nice. We are one street up from our local dump and used to get people dumping on our private gravel drive. There are several houses on the drive and one of the neighbors posted a sign at the start of the road with a human silhouette in a set of crosshairs. It says "nothing up this road is worth your life" and "no dumping" haven't had a single dumping incidence since. :)7

Similar story happening out my way. They got really restrictive with what you can and can't dump, and raised the prices. Now people just dump it along the road.

My brother lives in the next county over, they accept all rubbish no problem no fee and no illegal dumping problems :confused2:

I had a load dumped in my driveway. It was the guy two houses down. Called the police, he was arrested, fined $1,500 and another $10,000 from the EPA, and clean up coasts. I won another $5,000 for harassment. He was a money fund manager and wanted to save money from land fill fees. It would only have been $500 at the land fill. He dose not like me [sob, sob, sob] any more. Go find someone that cares. :D

Scesnick, I like your methods.

In my county the fee for maintaining the "convenience sites" is part of our annual property tax bill and everyone pays it. It's only about $20/year. IMHO that's the only way to go.

I haven't had anyone dump on my property but i do have lots of people use one of my business dumpsters. Wife thinks i'm crazy but i will pull the trash out look for an address and bring it back. I use to call the police but my local sheriffs office doesn't like to mess with it. I was always getting "you can't prove that they put that in your dumpster with out video or pic's." when i show them the mail or pay stub or what ever i'm told " they can say they lost it or that it must have blown out of a trash truck"
It has just been easier the last couple months just bring it back to their front door. I think one of them has gotten smart though, every week i get the same type of bag with no personal mail. thinking about buying a game camera to try and catch them again.

we have a road behine our shop that only I and the guy on the other side use
to get to the back of our property, and we was having a problem with Dumpers, So I put the post hole digger on the tractor, put two post in the ground, then got the welding machine working, and this is how I fixed the Problem, and it works, and the county has not said anything about it for over three years,

What really gets me is that our county run "convenience center" is open 8 am - 6 pm 363 days a year (closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day) and they accept virtually anything you want to dump with no fees but people will still dump their crap on the side of the road just down from the entrance to the place !! Just 2 weeks ago someone dumped a whole truck or trailer load of furniture & garbage about 100 yards away from the entrance and it's still sitting there - I believe it is on county property. I consider people that do these things the slugs of society.

lots of dumping on my road. Its not only the trash that drives me crazy. Its the organics. For example never had a problem with burs until the "lady" up the road cleaned out her horse pasture and dumped them above us, well theres more then one thing that goes down hill and now i have been dealing with spraying for burs the last two years.
Karma related i knew it was her because she had a hole in her gas tank, and the gas line ran right back to her property. Maby do a couple of signs that say its electronically watched, or that your on video. not sure if that would help. harbor freight has dummy cams for cheap.
