ok ,here it goes... gas tanks, just the red ones have the metal.
all mufflers made there,(old pics used)ENGINES- 425,kohler 422,robin the baby(not in production yet) briggs vangard 18 hp.
weight,422- 1344 lb. now you guys with the 425's, wheel motors, better get something to mop up the tears! these things are a brute! but they have a welded housing bolted to the frame, that houses the wheel motor. the old one has a bracket welded to the frame, and the motor bolts to it. these motors are of the same mfg. but they are twice the size of the old ones. i'm beat........latter /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

the green machine is still on the trailer and i'll unload it in the morning, you can't even walk out there for ice.
we shall see if it will start , covered with ice and 15 degrees

Re: i\'m baackk

Johara1,

Do you know if they use the same transmission pump? Did PT mention the torque output difference between the old and new style PT425 wheel motors?

Let us know how your PT422 fires up.

Re: i\'m baackk

well, first they didn't sell anything. they had the guy that went along with me almost talked into a red one, they have him thinking.
now as for starting: i think i flooded it ,all i could smell was gas. then the battery pulled down very fast i thought. i put the jumpers on it and fired right up. i un loaded everthing. i went to get a meter to check it out and found the positive terminal all corroded.so it wasn't a fair evaluation.
the pumps are all the same on the two tractors, same as they were before

Re: i\'m baackk

You'll be ok when you find that throttle/choke "sweet spot"...
With the coil issue, the largest battery available wouldn't fire it off. Terry's technique was to set the throttle about 1/2 way and move the choke down as you crank...for me the choke about 3/4 of the way was about right.
...SO...What kind of "tools" did you get.

Re: i\'m baackk

Did you notice if the new 418 quick attach plate is smaller in size than the 422, 425 series? I wonder if the wheel motors (418) are the same as the 422? I also wonder if the the hyd. pressure is just set lower (422/ 418)? I also wonder how much the new 425 wheel motors are from a local distributor?
Does the new 425 use the same wheels, or is the hub a different size? Robert

Re: i\'m baackk

they have not made a run of the little one yet, they are making 422 yesterday.
the wheel motors are white, same as the old ones on the 422 and 425. they would NOT give me any # or size, just that it is a larger volume and higher torque. if i had these you can go direct to white. just to looking at them they are at least twice the dia. the weldment they are in is attached to the frame of the tractor with four 1/2 " bolts, very impressive. these are a real bear!!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Re: i\'m baackk

So, the price of a new PT425 is now $8500.00 VS $8000.00 last year, however, you now get more torque in the wheel motors and 10" higher lift capacity? That extra $500.00 doesn't sound too bad for what you get. They raised the price, but made the product better. Sounds good to me /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The 425 was $8500 last year. See attachment.

Re: i\'m baackk

10" more lift is not a earth shaker, like the wheel motors /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

OOPS! I forgot it changed January of 2002. I got mine December 2001 for $8000.00. So the price stays the same and you get better wheel motors and higher lift.... even better. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Re: i\'m baackk

James,

I'm the guy in Hawaii. Looking forward to the delivery. You guys are lucky you can just drive over and pick yours up. Shipping costs alone can get you a larger tractor or many more attachments. I posted in 5000 initiative about my attachements also.
