I presume there are knowledgeable, enthusiastic Massey dealers in the US, but they don't exist in Oregon. Massey is ostensibly carried by two parent confederations of biz sites that have carved out sales districts. Neither has any interest in or knowledge of the brand, especially the compacts. They are only interested in other brands they carry. One pushes Case and the other CAT. They never have any compact Masseys on the lots and aren't even confident putting together a quote for special order. And these would be the guys to do warranty work if something catastrophic happened?

I'm bummed.

What are you looking for? Do you have other brands close by?

Brands besides Case and CAT? :D

Well, there's green of course. It's what I used growing up working on grampa's 5000 acre farm back in the day. Back in the day being the operative phrase. One look at today's offerings and I was done with Deere.

There's orange. I drive past a seemingly thriving dealer every day to and from work. But I have not been keen on their products because of wimpy hydraulics and light weight. I'm sure the quality is second to none, and I may end up with one, but for now I drive by.

There's blue, but they're Case in a different color and they don't offer what I want. There's kinda, sorta Yanmar, but I've no interest in them. There's a joke of a Branson. His 1 acre lot is filled with rusting junk, literally rusting junk, and 3, sometimes 4, low end tractors.

There's Mahindra. The dealer is a small engine biz that took up tractors on the side. It shows. They don't know jack .... about their tractors, even though they have many of them on the lot and seem to sell. They want MSRP for everything. Cash will get you MUSA rebates (which you mail in yourself) and nothing else. Ahem. They can't even install a rear remote for you. God help you if you needed them to do drive train warranty work! They're fine if you need a lawn mower or weed whacker.

Of the larger Korean brands, LS and TYM dealers start at 150 miles away and are really small. Their long term prospects are poor. Kioti has three almost exactly equidistant from me 130-150 miles. I am quite interested in an NX4510 hst cab, but I have so far shelved them for the simple fact that they don't offer a fel third function of any kind, and seem incapable of keeping simple parts like rear remote valves available. They will probably be back on the list soon.

As for what I want: a solid CUT with hst and a cab. HST because of the amount of fel work I will be doing. Cab because of my allergies to grasses. Rotary cutting in an open station in June is a recipe for flirting with anaphylactic shock. I need a filtered space between me and grass pollen clouds.

On paper the Massey 1749 is exactly what I want. But apparently I'll not be able to see one without driving 1000 miles round trip at least, probably somewhere in CA. Dunno, maybe I'll just spring for the giant Farmall 75C and live with shuttle and spotty turkish quality.

This got long. But, hey, you asked. :)

Given the availability of your local dealers, I would look real hard at a Grand L Kubota.

M-series Kubota. Just make sure your local dealer has a decent service shop and a decent parts department.

Good luck.

I feel for ya Biodegraded, grass allergies and you live in the grass seed center of the universe. You may have already tried them, but Fischer Supply in Oregon City carries Massey. I looked at a couple of them at the Ag show last January, and they were fabulous. I think that would be high on my list if I was ever in the market again.
Really loved the Kioti, but could''t agree on a reasonable price, and the dealers are far and few between here.
I bought my LS from Metro Tractor in Clackamas, and found their service dept. to be amiable and competent. Sales dept seemed a little disinterested, but you only deal with them once. My Ls is 3 years old and has never been back to the dealer for anything. Didn't notice any cab models when I was there getting filters last time, so you would probably need to order with either Massey or LS. Good luck in the search, let us know what you end up with.

Whoa, don't know how I missed them. I wonder how they managed not being assimilated into the Ag West or Petersen collectives. In any case, they have actual inventory on the lot, so must know something about the brand. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the reply. I tentatively retract being bummed. :)

Just another thought . . Do you have any Cabelas out by you? If so they have some very price competitive units in the compact and larger sizes . . . And they work on them themselves just like the boat and atv side if they are land management dealerships. Personally they had a number of things going for them . . . But their scut offering was weak compared to the cut and above sizes ans nice cab situations too.

After reading rgr33's post, I got in touch with Fischer and made the 120 mi each way trip yesterday. GREAT dealership: knowledgeable, chill, dudes who farm themselves and use the tractors they sell. They've been selling the brand literally for generations. They're as happy to sell a CUT as a monster 8 wheel row cropper. So I pulled the trigger on a 1754 hst cab. It'll be several weeks before I get it - the initial dealer transfer search showed the US was cleaned out of them. Izokay, I'm not in a hurry.

Thanks for the replies to my despondent post, especially rgr33.

Congrats! You'll love that tractor. My 1648 has been flawless so far, up to about 450 hrs. Did you get the DL130 or DL135 loader?
