I\'m Thinking About Adding 3 Remotes

I'm thinking about adding the 3 New Holland remotes on my TC-40D. I want to add top & tilt and have an additional option for another hydraulic application. Any pros or cons to this type of installation? My dealer tells me it is rather straightforward on the TC models, is this the case? I figured that the 3 remotes would be roughly $650-$700. if I did the labor thing myself. I really don't mind getting my hands dirty. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

There was a great post a while back that showed the process with pics. It is rather simple if you remove your rear wheel.

I have three remotes on the rear of by TC40D. Two end up on the "right" side of the PTO, one on the left side. The levers sure do a nice job filling those slots on the fender. I am only using one now for my hydraulic top link, but have all kinds of big ideas for the others. Taking off the right tractor wheel will be the hardest part of the job.

My dealer had the 1st and 2nd remotes in stock so I called and had him order the 3rd today. I told him that I would pick up all 3 at the same time, figured that would give him some incentive to speed things up a bit. Don't have a clue how long these things take to come in, I certainly hope that they don't take as long as I waited for my tooth bar. I ordered it over 2 months ago and it just came in yesterday. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Jim I do have a question for you. Does the cover on the remote that you removed to clean the return spring have a gasket from the factory? I would like to coat that spring when the remotes are new, to head off the corrosion problem that you described in an earlier thread.

OK, Thanks for the reply Jim. I just didn't want to take the covers off if there was a gasket that was going to cause me a problem off the bat. I'm going to try a little experiment here and keep an eye on it as it progresses, maybe we will both learn something here. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't know if your searches pulled up JohninCa's post Remote Hydraulics Install. This is a nice pictorial of installation of rear remotes on a TC29D.
