Last week my new tiller arrived via 18 wheeler - was supposed to get lift gate service with a call a day or two ahead of delivery so I could plan to be home. Well, plans are made to be broken I guess. Glad I was there!

I had no idea if this would work but the truck driver was willing to give me a hand rather than send it back to the terminal and ding me for a second delivery charge. I got out the 4110 and looked frantically thru my manuals to find the lift capacity of the loader - no luck. The tiller weighed in at 540lbs - and it was a good 4ft off the ground. So, we wrapped some chains around it and gave it a shot, figured if there was ANY squirrelly movement I'd set it back down on the trailer & bite the bullet on the lift gate. Well, it lifted like butter. Not a moan or groan and all wheels solidly on the ground. This is the pic just before I tucked it into the back of the barn to hide it from the bride.

The snow is gone now but torrential rain today, the ground won't be dry enough to till for a few weeks.

There ya go, thats using your tractor. Tractors and implements are a beautiful thing.
As far as hiding it from the bride better put some mud & dirt on it so it looks used and that you've had it for a long time. See "Golden Rules"

Thats one of the things that kills me about these trucking companys. Oh we screwed up, well you have to pay us to make it right. I had three diferent items I paid extra to have delivered with a lift gate to my house and its my fault. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Now its nearest hub, I'll pick it up it is just easier

Yikes. I hope you folded the ROPS up before moving with that much weight that high off the ground.

I thought the same thing, then looked at the back of the tractor, is that a bh I see. Your weight distribution should be fine with that on there. Without the bh on, you would probably be doing a nose dive

Good job

Yup, the ROPS was up when doing the initial lift off the truck. I was 1000 ft away from the truck and a little more comfortable with the scenario when I took the pic. I'm certain the BH on the rear end was the difference in this thing working vs being a thread on the Safety forum. Didn't even get a hint of rear end 'bounce' when I lifted the tiller off the truck. I had to fold the ROPS down to get into the back of the barn.
