This past summer I got a stange idea and went at it. I wanted a 3ph snowblower for my bx23 but with a twist. I wanted to be able to throw snow in 2 dirctions at the same time. Something not seen every day. I got my hands on 2 aries 24 in. blower housings, mated them side by side, furgured out how to reverse direction using #40 roller chain. Everthing came together perfectly, execpt whenI use it, I throw the white stuff only about 2 feet. My understanding is that rear blowers turn 540 rpm, as my does. Why am i getting only 2 foot flumes out of mine? I could easley get 1100rpm by doubling the imput gear, which I'm planning to to.The question, how doesn't everyone else get away using 540rpms. Is it the size of the impeller? Both of mine are about 12 in dia..

If I recall, Ariens as others have the impeller direct coupled to the motor and most small 4 strokes will RPM at or above 2400 rpm.

i know that a small 8 hp snowblower revs at 3200 rpm but there are two different size pulleys.Small one on the motor shaft and a bigger one on the blower auger

I can't help you with your problem, but would be interested to see a picture of your setup.

i think on a small blower the impeller turns around 3 to 1.For every three motor rpm the impeller turns once.the pulley on the motor is around 3 inches and the impeller pulley is around 9 inches.saying that if the motor runs at 3200 rpm the impeller turn around a 1000 rpm

You did exactly what I considered doing and posted here several years ago, except I was going to front mount it.

I wound up with a neighbor giving me a front mount 5' Cub blower that I mounted up front on my Allis B. Unfortunately I found out the hard way that Cub pto's run backward from everyone else and I had a great little snow sucker. Shortly after that I wound up trading a plow for an 8' blower that I front mounted on my big tractor.

As others have said, you'll just have to increase the speed to make it work and just take it easy to not tear them up.
