My recent tractor purchase included a 48 backhoe. I had to take the tractor back to the dealer after I had been using it for a week to get the backhoe attached, and once I got it back, all I had done for a couple of days was use the backhoe. Then I had a new attachment delivered (see my thread in "Attachments" for a discussion of dump trailers) and needed the BH off. I was dreading the process, but was absolutely amazed at how simple it is. The reverse was just as easy or easier. If you're looking at the backhoe and wondering if it will destroy the functionality of your JD CUT, the answer is a resounding, NO! Go for it. The backhoe gives you so much capacity and almost jumps on and off the tractor. Pictures of putting it on are now in my photo gallery.

Good morning

I have a 4310 and a 48 BH.

I have had my backhoe off about a dozen times in the two years that I have owned the tractor. It takes me about 10 minutes to take off and another 10 to put it back on.

The only problem was that the three point hitch arms do not lift high enough to allow the pins to be taken out. My dealer told me that there is an adjustment for that, but I never bothered to take it back. I use the outriggers to lift the hoe to remove the pins and conversely put the pins back into place. Therefore, I have had to develope a slightly different way to mount and dismount the hoe from the manual, but it all works in the end.
