Anyone ever seen one of these up close?

BigBullHighRider

Or something like it?

I was wondering what they use at the bottom, an auger or some type of spindle with teeth. This seems like just the ticket for putting compost down on my drive-on raised beds before I till and plant. Would save me a lot of shovel and rake work. Likely I would build a ground driven 3 pt version, still have to fill it with a shovel but it cuts out half the shoveling and all the rake work :) Engaging the drive would be as easy as lowering the 3pt till the wheels touch.

I have only seen them on the net, so I know about as much as you do. I also would love somthing like this. If you have success making one please post pics and any info you can.

if you have a quad or riding mower you could make it for them and fill it with your fel... no shoveling .. much better on the back

Here is another option to consider...:D
We Do Poo!

That is certainly a new take on things. The other one is better suited to what I would want as I could put compost down a few inches thick in a single pass.

That spreader looks like it would be much easier to build than a traditional manure spreader... but the prices sure don't reflect it

I dunno guys...I'm not sure I could have something from an outfit using the phrase "We Do Poo" anywhere on my property. I'd be afraid the neighbors might see it.

I compost horse manure (3 horses) and use the largest ground-driven manure spreader that Frontier makes. I use the same tractor to load and pull, and it works OK, though during the spreading process I usually wish the spreader held more bucketfuls. I spread on non-manicured lawn - much to the dismay of my neighbors - I'm sure.

As I've mentioned in other posts, I use this hitch:
Flexpoint Adapter Turns Your 3-Point Hitch into Versatile 2in. Receiver, Model# FPHS-1 | 3-Point Hitch Accessories | Northern Tool + Equipment

and a ball-less hitch to pull the manure spreader. The ability to raise/lower the reciever really simplifies the process.

The small red bucket looks like it would need to be filled by hand. The FEL would create a big pile all around it. The big drum sounds like a nifty idea BUT it is not uncommon to have quite large and hard basketball sized lumps in the manure. These chunks would simply roll aournd in the drum and likely wouldn't fall apart. Even with my manure spreader's teeth I'll have to follow up spreading with chopping the chunks up by hand with a shovel and then with the mower.
