In the market for a 2nd tractor.....

We have 40 acres of pasture and creeks with trees and fencing to maintain.... we have bought a 3038e JD in my siggy... love it...!
Now we just found out that we are able to purchase the rest of the original farm... another 40 acres of pasture and more woods(15ac)....
Our plan is pasture maintenance and fence maintenance..cattle and goats.... NO HAYING... just grazing...
We use the 3038 for bush hogging pasture.... and im looking across the fence and thinking that my tractor is gonna need some help....
I have two teenagers to help clip pastures and a wife always willing to hope on and mow....

We all really LIKE the 3038 size.... would we be well suited to get another tractor the same size.... 35ish HP...??
for pasture clipping...general light work... very little ground engagement....we do repair pasture with a 5ft tiller and all is good there....

stick with what you have and everyone is familiar with
I have a JD 3032e and a Kubota 2250 with a BH
it doesn't seem like much but just to throttle up is in different directions on the 2 machines
I wish tractor mfg. would just standardize some things
I know I'm asking too much

While the 3038 is a good economical machine, if you were to just step up to a 3520 you would be getting about 20-30% more tractor other than the HP being the same.

What price range?

I have to say getting the old JD 310B back hoe kind of by accident (was looking for a FEL to fit MF but the backhoe did not cost any more) is so handy cleaning up our 15 acres. Something like that can be used for a while and when you find little need for it you can sell and get a more multi purpose tractor.

If you get a larger tractor then you will want larger implements and the cycle continues. I always liked having at least two tractors that would operate every piece of equipment I owned so when one died you still could keep moving. This was on a working dairy so down time was money.

Agree that if you are happy with JD and the dealer why change.
