Tractor
None right now...
We have been looking for a tractor for the last week or so and have pretty much narrowed it down to the Kubota L2800HST with FEL.

Several dealers have given us online quotes for a package that includes the tractor with FEL,rotary cutter, box blade, posthole digger and trailer.

Brands have varied and as we are complete newcomers to this we have littl eto no idea what is good, bad or indifferent as to quality.

Prices on the implements have varied by a few hundred dollars and the trailer has been about $2000 or so.

I am wondering whether we should cut back on implements in the package or is it simply easier to finance it all in?

Is it worth buying 'Kubota' brand implements?

The property we would use it on is overgrown and needs a lot of work,we went the clear it by hand route and found that a little less than fun...:D

So any and all help would be appreciated.

Afternoon OZ,
As far as the implements go I would suggest to get as many as you can afford. You can use them right away instead of dreaming about them, and you will appreciate the benefits and utility of having a complete package ! Making your tractor purchase that much more valuable ! ;)

"...cut back on implements in the package or is it simply easier to finance..." What is your budget? Monthly payments? I could only afford the tractor and FEL when I got mine (still paying for it). I was lucky since I had a friend who let me use his attachments. You can get cheaper attachment but you can also spend more - quality / heavy duty). What size brush are you clearing... Also, How much acres are we talking about?

If you need all the implements, then get them now, while you're financing. You can usually save a little money if you compare prices all around town, then buy one from this dealer, one from that dealer, etc, but it's a hassle. What I found when I was looking was that if a dealer charged $75 less for a rough cutter, they usually charged $75 more for the box blade, or something else. If you don't need the trailer, then don't get it. $2,000 seems a little high for a trailer, unless it's a gooseneck. If it's just a 16 foot flatbed, then it's definitely overpriced. I've got a Kubota L3400 with FEL, box blade and shredder (rough cutter). My BB and cutter aren't Kubota brand, so I can't really shed any light on that. My cutter is a 5' Howse, and I don't like it. It cuts good, but the quality of the metal is crap as far as I'm concerned. If you need all of the implements now, then get them now. If you don't HAVE to have the trailer right now, I'd wait, since that price sounds high to me.

Kubota makes good products and so is their implements. If you buy implements separately you may save some money just maybe. However you just may not ever get them if your like me. You will only dream about having them.

Get them now all in one package and come home with a big smile on your face and have fun.

Only get implements you are going to use not because they're in a "package" . I agree with everyone else if you don't get it now you'll regret it :( later ....

I disagree a little. Do the research and do the math. If the implements in the package are exactly what you want at a price that will save you money in the long run, then sure, go for it. But don't get dazzled by shiny paint and a yard full of implements you don't need and may have overpaid for.

I did not include implements in a package and I'm glad I didn't. I shopped around and got better stuff at better prices.

Just where in the low country are you? How far are you from Savannah?
Have you talked to the dealer over there? I have found him very reasonable
They have put a lot of John Deere's and Kubota's into the South Carolinia
Low Country.

Welcome to TBN :D! I agree with N80; especially so we can all help you spend  your hard earned money . I would prioritize those attachments that you really need now and those that will assist you with the "Project List" later. I was really surprised by the "savings" I achieved by "shopping around" for attachments as I worked my way through the "List". I did luck out and get a Woods 8' Landscape Rake for free by looking around :D! Jay

Beaufort but our future homestead is in WNC,17 acres of overgrown land.:D

I emailed and received a quote from the dealer in Savannah, haven't spoken to them yet..

As to the implements,a rotary cutter is a REAL need, the land is overgrown and actually impassable in places.

The posthole digger is for the future when we put fencing up,I have access to as many old utility poles as I want and hope to cut and use the smaller diameter poles as fenceposts.

The boxblade...well not really sure...:D

Thanks for all the advice and hopefully we will soon be proud owners of a new tractor.
