After about five years of talking about it, I finally made the CUT navigate towards the wood line. With most of the land being pasture here, those woods on the back lot have always called out for me.

Took one of the botas down there and within one hour had a nice walking trail right by the creek. Lots of trees for the burn pile and maybe a few for the fireplace too.

Hearing the owl on the walk down with the SO made it all the more special.

The end goal is a trail right on the edge of the property line for riding, walking and the ATV's.

There ain't nothing like spending time in the woods with your equipment!

Mike, you have a lot more property than me, but I remember the excitement of breaking trails and making every part of my land accessible. After I completed the trails, it was a bit of a letdown because I had no more virgin territory to explore. Then, the work really began because I started planning on what I'd like to do to change some places and improve others. I still have a few places I have not walked, but I can stand within 50' and view them clearly. The first time my neighbor toured my land with me, he was astounded by all the trails and immediately hired a dozer to make trails through his woods. His 27 acres next to mine is now also full of trails. We all take regular springtime tours on each other's trails to view wild flowers. We often see deer and turkeys on our trips. Except for the poison oak/ivy, the woods is hard to beat. I'm sure your N. VA forests are pretty darn spectacular. Your trees probably make mine look like dwarfs.

I love making trails, look at my avatar.
Gives you a chance to use all your tools, tractors, chain saws etc.

The box blade is one piece I don't own or lease..... I have to backdrag and use the rake.

I ventured down there again today, moving dirt now, a big tree fell over years ago, the root ball went with it, so there is free dirt for ruts.

I'll have to post some shots, it is yet another project, but me and the little tractor have not had quality time in a while. I think it has been over ten years since I "cut" a new trail.....

Oh, yeah I got ivy that is borderline alien it is so huge....

The trees are big, but they don't look healthy, I'll see if I can get some size shots....

Without pics it didn't happen! Looking forward to the views. Of course I'm one to talk. My wife and I cleared out some trails this past summer and cleared an opening for a camp for her kids in her youth group at church. I guess that didn't happen either 'cause I forgot to document it.
