That 2320 is a good looking rig.

Just curious though -- Why the upgrade? The old 650 still looks like she's still ready to put in an honest day's work.

Bought the 650 in 1988, new. The 650 was a very good tractor and I've done an enormous amount of work with it with never a problem. The only thing I had to fix in 20 years was to replace a bad water pump gasket about 10 years ago. Go figure! I just hope the 2320 holds up as well. Have my doubts. Anyway I figure I may be pushing the envelope a little and it's just a matter of time before I need to spend big money on repairs, it was time for power steering and a HST transmission. Not to mention $10,500 on a trade-in, paid $14,500 for the 650 in 1988. Was going to pay cash for the 2320 but dealer talked me into financing some of it for the 0% for 48 months, made sense.

We have a small 10-acre horse farm and the 650 (17 hp) has taken care of all our needs for 20 years. It totally amazes me how people think they always need more power and bigger tractors. The new 2320, so far, is MORE tractor than I actually need and the 2520 would have been a waste of good money. I do however have a learning curve with the HST and single joystick loader, the backhoe controls are the same as the old unit and have no issues what so ever with that, although the reach of the new hoe is 12 inches shorter.

Good luck with the new guy. Hope I have as much luck (have so far) with my 18.5 hp wonder. Hope by the time I have to replace mine that JD is back making an 18-20 hp model.

What tractor do you have?

You made a great choice with that tractor. I don't know of anyone that has been sorry they bought the 2320.

Gizmo,

I've a 4010. It's the smallest full Cat. 1 tractor that JD made just before they started making the 2320 and 2520. It's 18.5 hp.

Congrat Gizmo, and you sure got good usage out of the 650.

Good picture. Seems like they haven't changed much in 20 years.

Gizmo, does your bh have the new subframe that does not use the rockshaft to mount / remove?

Seeing that pic makes me want some seat time...
