Indoor dryer vent

When stationed in Japan, they sold an electric washer/dryer combo that ran the dryer exhaust through a lint trap and into a water trap. The water trap was basically a bucket of water that the hose would go in half way. It reduced the amount of moisture going into the air about 90%. They had bags of water absorbing material hung around the water trap to catch the other 10% of the moister. Those were very small dryers, so the larger dryers we use here would require many more or much larger bags.

I used a condensing dryer when visiting England.......they work the same as a venting dryer but instead of venting the moisture out they collect it in a container inside the dryer that has to be emptied........I was surprised by the amount of water collected after a single load of clothes......probably close to half a gallon of water......multiply that by several loads and you can begin to see why non-condensing dryers need to vent outside......Jack
If you want to get away from dryer vents entirely, look into whats called Condensing dryers. They work without a dryer vent and without creating a moisture problem in the laundry. Popular in Europe. I know Miele and some of the other big euro manufacturers make them.
