Indoor r/c track build

I've built a couple of r/c tracks this past summer and I posted the pics on this site a few r/c sites. Well It finally paid off. My brother and I were hired to build the r/c track at a place called the exteme sports dome extreme sports dome - the worlds largest indoor motocross track It's a indoor motocross track and r/c track. We were asked to build two tracks in one. A oval with jumps in the infield that can be turned into a off road track. The pics don't show it well but the track was built on a angle for visibility. The back straight is actually built 5 ft above the floor. We used in the neighborhood of 1000 yard of dirt for this build. We built the track with a komatsu D21 and a Cat skid loader. Most of the final shaping and grading was done by hand with good old fashioned rakes and shovels.

This is probably going to seem stupid, but it looks like a track with a bunch of hoses on it. I don't see how racing on it would work?

Well technically thats what it is. This track can be changed from a oval track to a off road track with a few simple changes of the tubing. In the photos all the tubing is down so you can see how it would be set up as an oval and a off road track. If you take away the tube that makes the inside of the oval you have the off road track. If you take up the tube that cut across the outer oval you have the oval track.

Drainage tubing does less damage if the car runs into it. PVC tubing sells parts.

I use to race RC cars from 92-98. I raced tracks from Wisconsin, Cooper's in Chatham, Va to The Winternationals in Tampa. Nice job there.

Cooper's track was tilled with sawdust and that track held moisture like a sponge. It held moisture even with 400 entries running non-stop. I tried it on tracks I maintained for clubs and worked well.

I built and maintained some tracks when I raced. I did this on one track that would not hold moisture. You will see the results after you till it in, but better the next year.

I miss my LX-T,XX-T, 2 XXs, 2 XX-4s T2, HPI sedan!
