Industrial Ford 4ooo question..........

I am posting this question for my dad. He was just given an Industrial Ford 4000. He is wondering where the fill hole is on a gas engine for the hydraulic fluid to go into the transmission. Help?

Also, if anyone has a manual or knows where we can get one, that would be much appreciated.

it would be AWESOME to know if this was a 4 cyl 4000 or a 3 cyl 4000

TOTALLY different machines. ones a pre 64 the other is 65+

if a pre 64 4 cyl.. then the hyds , tranny, and rear end are ALL seperate sumps.. hyd fill is on the hyd top cover , under the seat, under your left thigh.
.. tranny fill is by the shifter. takes UTF fluid in either hole.


if this is a 3 cyl, the tranny is seperate from the rear sump which is rear end and hyds. tranny fill is at shifter.

rear end and hyds fill are aft of the top cover for the hyd 3pt

post back more info and get better answers.

owners / parts / service manuals can be ordered online from CNH or many parts houses. the basic I&T service manual can even be had at places like farm stroes..e tc.

Sorry I cant help with the hydro fluid, soundguy would know best, but I would assume it is the same as the 4000.

As to the model ID, there should be a little flat section near the starter. It should have numbers stamped into it, NOT cast. These will be the model code, production date, and serial number.

This should help with that FORD CODES and SERIAL NUMBERS

And yes, manuals are availiable. Ebay seems to always have a large selection...

it will take the same type of utf meeting m2c134 spec.

all the 4 cyls from 53-64 ( and those late 65 industrials ), hav ethe same setup.

trans sump, hyds sump, and diffy sump. same drians..e tc.

thos springfield id codes only work for the 65-75 3 cyl. that late 4 cyl industrial will use the older 63/64 nomenclature as found in the fo-20 manual. there will be stampings on the bellhousing flat aft of the starter. probbaly a 5 digit numer starting with 2, etc..
