Cub Cadet 7205
Bought this WW Grinder T20 at a barn sale not knowing a thing about it but have been wanting something to attach to my Cub Cadet tractor7205 to grind up piles of brush/limbs that have accumulated around the property.
A 1982 brochure came with it that states it is an Apache Scout T20-540. I searched all over the internet and can't find any info about what it will handle as to size of limbs, etc. Its for a Cat.1 hitch which is what I have and I assume the "540" in the part number is the speed of the PTO which is correct for my Cub Cadet.
I did find out that there is a difference between a chipper and a shredder. The "blades" on this one are not the sharp, cutting type, so I guess this is a shredder?
Anyone have one of these? Looks like it wasn't used much, is WELL built, and is in very good condition. Will it handle small limbs? I burn anything over about 2".

I don't know anything about that particular machine, but it should handle anything 2" and under. I have a MTD with a 10 hp engine that works quite well with limbs that size. Keep the chipper blades sharp or it will just shredd instead of chipping. (Been there).

Thanks for the reply. Still absolutely nothing on my internet searches. Guess I'll just have to hook it up and see what happens!

Small stuff less than an inch or so in diameter in the big opening. Larger stuff (whatever will fit) into the small tube. There is a blade on the flywheel at the bottom of the small tube.

Keep your hands and anything you don't want hurt the heck away from both openings.

I had one of these and loved it. You can even shred newspaper or straw for bedding.

This is a chipper - shredder and will handle any limb that will fit down the chute, but I think 2” is recommended.

I have had one for many years. Manufactured by W-W Grinder, now out of business unfortunately.

Mine has been stored unused for a while but yours appears to be in great shape. I see you are missing the belt guard. I strongly recommend you get a local machine shop to fabricate one. Mine is bolted to the flat frame piece holding the PTO bearing.

Yes 540 is the correct PTO speed. Good luck. I still searching for parts but may have to take it apart and hope there’s numbers on the bearings.

I had a similar WW Grinder with a 8hp engine. They are a hammer mill. Will shred most anything. Live limbs are tough to shred. Slow cutting. Blades are not meant to be sharp. Lots of vibrations transmitted to hands. Had chute for limbs about 5” square. Not a good limb chipper. Had variable bars and screen to change grind mesh.

Compost garden waste. Used it shred straw for mushroom cultivation. Best apple crusher for pressing to make cider.
