Also, its silly to expect a 3/4 ton or 1 ton super duty will get the same mpg as a 1/2 ton Tundra. If you really want to tow, I would get the 6.2 with 4.30 gears. As far as the gas bill, expect the worse, and hope for the best. Towing and fuel economy do not get along well.

Not arguing, just commenting....

My 18 year old 240K mile 7.3L gets 15 mpg by itself, 10 mpg towing, all done under 2500 rpm. If buying a truck for towing, I just don't get the gasser thing.

I can see your point of view, just saw the OP did not want a diesel.

Good evening, I am thinking of trading my 2015 Tundra Crewmax 4x4 5.7L SR5 with 577xx miles in on a new Ford F-250 Crewcab 4x4 6.2L 3:73 rear gears XLT. I have towed using my Tundra at max towing capacity 10,000 lbs and it is kind of light in the front end and lacking on braking even with the trailer brakes. What is the collective thoughts on the new 2017-2018 Superdutys. I am not looking at a diesel now so please do not throw out get a diesel. Also what is the mpg look like on the highway doing 75-80? My Tundra gets 14.5-16 mpg on average.
Thanks

Last summer I bought a 2017 F250, Crew Cab, 4 X 4, 3.73 rear and Lariat. So far it is a great pickup, only 12,000 miles on it so far. That is all the info I can give you though as it has a diesel engine.

BTW, to start with I was only looking for one with the gas engine until I found out how low the mpg was.

I looked at one of those last month before I settled on the 150. My dealer said they are great trucks with that engine platform, and wouldn't hesitate to put me in one. BTW, I have bought around 11 trucks from this guy, so I trust him.

So he talked you into the 1/2 T or you talked yourself into it??

I am getting ready to order an 18' F250 this week. The 6.2L and the torqshift-G in the F250 is proving to be a great combo.

The Tundra has always been a fuel hog, so you wont lose much going F250.
