info on a model 40

Am looking at a model 40 that needs some minor attention , and was wondering what hp this 2cyl gas job has, and any other info that would be usefull if I decided to purchase it.

I don'thave any jd's yet.. but have had exp with yannies... and fords..

According to Tractor Tips.com the Model 40 was made from 1953-1955, has 25.23 PTO HP and 22.8 drawbar HP it also lacks a 3PH.

This is a small tractor, but good for 1 btm plow,or cultivating. Ideal for joy riding,it is an upright 2cyl.

This one actually has a 3pt hitch.. was there an aftermarket dealer option for this? It looks 'normal'... I.e. not a farmer hyd cyl add on .. like on a 49h farmall...

I don't know, I just repeated the info off of TractorTips.com. I looked up the Model 40 on MachineryLink.com and it said that the 1953-54 were 19 HP and the 1955 was 22.8 HP. What year is the tractor? Maybe Deere added a 3PH when they increased the HP.

Those tractors were available with a "regular" 3 pt hitch. A pretty dependable machine. Worst part is the 6-volt system. They will work, though with a good battery and cables.
