I am looking at a SB1154 blower for my 1050. Actually, the dealer has one at another location. Is there somewhere I can view pictures and information about this unit online so that I can show my wife?

Look HERE on the JD site, but they are anew product so there does not seem to be a ton of info on the yet.

There are plently of other rear 3PH mounted blowers though that may be a lot cheaper.

What brand can you recommend? I'm not a die hard JD only guy. The dealer quoted me $2250 for the SB1154. I didn't think that was too bad from what I have seen.

I didn't have luck on the web site last night. Your link didn't work for me either. I'm having a computer blonde moment.

I got a SB1154 a couple weeks ago. It works very well on my 2320. I am thinking about hydrualics for the rotation / deflector next year. If you want any specific pics or have any questions let me know.

So..Am I going too small for my 1050? The 1050 is about twice the weight and about 50% more hp than the 2320. I am limited due to gear drive, so I don't want to go too big and not be able to go slow enough. I'm going to measure the width of the 1050 this morning to see if 54" even covers it. I think they offer a 64" model too, but it is recommended for tractors up to 50 hp.

We have a 6 foot Smyth blower on a ~35 hp ford, with gears. It works very well. Depending on the amount of snow you do have to run in low reverse, and sometimes need to feather the clutch some. The 54 is as wide as I would want on the little 2320, and the hydro is nice. The 54 may be a little small for your 1050, but you could add wings on the sides to cover the wheel width. IMO you'd be fine with the next size up. In stock and ready in an a couple hours was the big selling point for me.

I run a JD 666 3 point blower on my 990 with no effort at all. Before the 990 I used my Father in laws 1050 and it also ran the 66" blower with no problem but Reverse in high was too fast to control more so than a power problem. In my opinion 54" is too small.

Update. I agree with the 54" being too small. With the turfs (which I may change), the tractor width is 72". The dealer can't get the 64" blower any time soon (but I could check around to see if others have one in stock). He does have a 74" in stock, and can discount it to $3,000. I wouldn't think that it could do much in high range, but maybe low range would be OK for most snows. If it is just a little snow, we would just drive over it, or switch to the rear blade to clean it up quick. I'm now leaning toward the big one if no one thinks it would be too large.

How large is the area to clear, what are snow conditions like and what is your blower budget?
