Infrared Thermometer will it read a corrugated flue pipe

Answer to the initial question was no, the IR thermometer (fixed emissivity) is not accurate reading stainless flue pipe. The IR thermometer read about 150 degrees when the top of the wood stove was 900 degrees. I have not tried painting the pipe yet.
