I have a Kioti DK4510HS (shuttle shift 45-horse tier-4) that's not currently getting heavy use. It's a year old, and I've put about 15 hours on it. It will get more use once our house is built and we move to our land, but that's still months off. Given that it's not seeing heavy use, how should I change the maintenance schedule?

First off, like once every month or so, get it out and run it getting everything up to temperature, run your PTO, run your 3 pt up and down, run your FEL if you have one up and down limit to limit.

Recommendations are a crap shoot since who knows what kind of service each buyer will put their tractor through. I use some common sense and adjust accordingly. On seldom used items, I run out the time schedule but pretty much adhere to the hours recommended. Right now, being retired, I probably run most of my fleet at 100 hrs. Oil changes are on a 2 year cycle or recommended hours, which ever comes first.

The 3910 I just bought is 30 years old. 900 hrs makes for 30 hours per year on the average. Not much usage. In changing the fluids I noticed about a quarter inch of sludge in the bottom of the engine oil pan. Detergent oil is designed to keep particles in suspension and if engine is used frequently and oil changed somewhat reasonably they will remain there.

However, if dirty oil sits for a long time, gravity will put those contaminants at the bottom of the container and what used to be black oil will look more like honey....BTDT with a closed, clear, plastic drain pan, full of dirty engine oil, I had sitting on a shelf and forgot about it for a year or so. By cycling your functions as mentioned you will keep everything lubed and dirt in suspension.

Well - I normally will put around 75 to 80 hours on my tractor per year. I change the engine oil & filter every year and new inner and outer air filters every year. I grease all 24 zerks on the beast every ten hours. Greasing is the nasty chore- but my skin is sooooo smooth.

I do all the other checks - water separator(visual check) - fan belts tightness - air pressure in tires - etc, etc - 2X annually.

Been doing it this way for 36+ years now - works for me.

BTW - I do go out and put the tractor thru its paces if its been over a month since I last used it - like Texasmark indicated.

I wouldnt bother heating it up and running it every month. Its not a gas engine. Every 3 or 4 months should be fine. Change the oil every year. Check for mouse nests in places like the air filter. Keep it on a battery trickle charger and treat your fuel.

I have a diesel generator. I only run it every time we change the clocks. No battery chsrger either.
